Band_2The Levelland High School Symphonic Band recently competed at the UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest in Sundown, on March 11, 2010. The band earned a first division in both concert and sightreading for the contest. This gave the band an overall award of sweepstakes!

Sweepstakes is an award given to bands that earn a first division, which is the highest mark that UIL can give at a contest, in marching, concert, and sightreading. This is an overall award on the entire school year for the band From what we are able to find, it has been 11 years since the last sweepstakes and only the second one in over 30 years.

“I am extremely happy for the award that the band has been able to accomplish. Their hard work, dedication, and discipline that they have put forth this year has taken them to the highest level.”
