The Levelland HS Symphonic Band recently ranked 10th in the State, for there performance of Immer Fesch March by Richard Eilenberg, at the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention this past July, in San Antonio.
At the end of the 2009-2010 school year, the band submitted a recording of their performance for the Outstanding Performer Series that the Association of Small School Bands hosts. That recording then competes at all levels and the winner of each level earns their way up to State. The Lobo Band was awarded a position at the State level and earned the 10th spot overall.

The Levelland High School Symphonic Band recently competed at the UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest in Sundown, on March 11, 2010. The band earned a first division in both concert and sightreading for the contest. This gave the band an overall award of sweepstakes!
Sweepstakes is an award given to bands that earn a first division, which is the highest mark that UIL can give at a contest, in marching, concert, and sightreading. This is an overall award on the entire school year for the band From what we are able to find, it has been 11 years since the last sweepstakes and only the second one in over 30 years.
“I am extremely happy for the award that the band has been able to accomplish. Their hard work, dedication, and discipline that they have put forth this year has taken them to the highest level.”

Already hard at work, our marching lobo band is getting in tip top shape for the year ahead. Sweating it out in the hot West Texas sun, they practice their timing, footwork, and coordination all under the watchful eyes of their instructors.
It takes a great deal of skill, training, and love to make this look as good and as easy as only our band can do. You can find them practicing their marching moves in the High School parking lot until around 11 when they move in to practice the music.

But even the Lobos need to take a break to get some water every now and again…
