The school newspaper, the Lobo Lair, is now online. A printed version may still be published a few times a year (like at graduation), but the online version will be updated by adding onto it weekly.
“We hope students will read the online version more than they did the printed one. School news is available instantly now with the mobile version on cell phones or the full version on computers. The newspaper staff will be able to update it more often than they could print a newspaper because the online version is free; whereas, the printed newspaper was funded by advertising which was getting harder and harder to sell,” Kelly Williamson, adviser, said.
In addition to stories about students, events, etc. that would normally be in a printed newspaper, the online Lobo Lair includes the current local weather and a calendar of events. Readers can also comment on the stories and/or email the staff members.
“We would like to include news that may interest our students whether it happens on or off campus. For example, we’d like to include concert dates on our calendar and release dates of anticipated movies,” Williamson said. “Look for these additions soon.”
“It will allow us to include news like when a student signs with a college or a student wins at contest. Before, a lot of school news was old news by the time we got advertising sold, stories written, pages designed, and paper proofread so it didn’t get printed. Now, when news happens we can look into it, write story, and post it.”
You the reader can participate. Comment and write us. Your ideas and stories can be posted too. Of course, we can’t post anything that is false, one-sided, or inappropriate for school. We will edit what is submitted for things we can print and spelling and grammatical errors.
“We hope you enjoy and use the online Lobo Lair.”

On Saturday January 9th Christian Pacheco, a Junior at LHS, became the first trombone player from Levelland to make the Association of Texas Small School All State Band. Christian competed with students from over 60 different school districts from around our area, which stretches from El Paso to almost Fort Worth. He will be traveling to San Antonio on February 8th for 4 days of clinic and convention fun!! We are very proud of this huge accomplishment!!{ 9 comments }
Mrs. Dobson’s Kindergarten class wrote a sentence as a group and sent out e-mails asking LISD employees what their favorite gift was for Christmas. As each student opened their e-mail he/she categorized the item and constructed a graph from the data they received. The students enjoyed this project.

Mrs. Stephenson’s and Mrs. Condit’s language arts classes have been studying winter! They wrote Cool Poetry, using their five senses. They drew a SnowBuddy, incorporating a glyph. They culminated their day of activities by writing, “Winter Is….” and drinking hot chocolate, complete with marshmalows. Yum!
