Ethan Parkinson, Delaney Williams, Rayden Flores, and Emily Perez recently took a trip to KLVT Radio to record an Anti-Tobacco Ad.

Capitol Elementary’s library is filled with excitement as kids walk in to discover all the new books donated to us by the Noon Rotary Club! The Rotary club donated $1500.00 from a grant they received towards the purchase of new books.  Thank you Noon Rotary Club! We love our new books!

Mrs. Riley’s class just read the story Guys From Space by Daniel Pinkwater. To go along with their story, they wrote their own alien stories, made an alien spaceship and drank root beer floats, just like the aliens drank floats on another planet. The teacher and students even wore dog bowls on their heads, for helmets, just like the aliens in the story.

Capitol Elementary Second Graders are studying the “Force of Gravity.” Students were assigned to design and construct a container or contraption that would protect a raw egg from breaking when dropped from the rooftop of the school, which is approximately 20 feet high. The “Egg Drop” was performed in front of Capitol on Friday morning, March 29th. Students were anxious and excited to observe to see if their eggs “survived” the test without being broken.

Each Wahoo Wednesday, classes at LMS are shortened to approximately 30 minutes so that the afternoons are available for enrichment and remediation activities. Students have the opportunity to participate in three activities on Wahoo Wednesdays. Some of these activities are assigned based on test scores and students’ most recent progress report. These activities include extra help where remediation is needed as well as academic enrichment for students who are excelling in a particular content area. Other activities are selected by the student based on his/her interest.

Mrs. Dobson’s second graders wrote about “Friendship, the Texas State Moto”.
