In Mr. Unger’s  3^rd period Web Page Class, students learn how to create and design Web Pages. (or Web Sites). HTML is the primary code used to make web pages, but is not the only one.  Many common words appear in web page code such as BODY, HEAD, and TITLE. These codes are the gateway to great web pages and are used to create several sites, like http://www.levellandisd.net.  If you know this code, the possibilities for creating awesome web pages are unlimited!

In Ms. Navarro’s Spanish class, we are making an “Ojo de Dios”, or eye of God. We have to use two sticks that are a yard long and at least as thick as a pinkie finger. We also need two rolls of different colored yarn.  The yarn gets so strong that it bends the sticks and they can sometimes break. “It’s sad to see your eye break after you’ve worked on it so hard,” stated Ms. Navarro .Local stores stick extra  supplies for this because so many students rush to go them!

The LMS building. We are building storage sheds so we can learn the basics of making buildings. We learned about the foundations of houses and how to properly square up the foundation of a building. To make the foundation, we had to learn how to use a nail gun and a caulk gun. This week, we finished the foundation of the building. Mr. Pope will be selling the shed to local buyers when the project is finished. Mr. Pope says he picked the project because he wanted “to demonstrate to the students the knowledge and skills necessary to build a house.”

 The students at LMS have very kind hearts and like to show it. The members of the National Junior Honor Society serve anyone around Levelland that needs help for no money. Babysitting, mowing lawns, and running consession stands are only a few of the projects they can do for points. Every student is required to get 10 points each six weeks. On Tuesdays, the NJHS meets and talks about deeds they can do to help others. By the end of the year, all the students involved should feel good about what they accomplished.

On Sunday February 28^th, Mrs. Payne’s Treble Choir sang the National Anthem at the Lady Raiders basketball game. The Treble Choir auditioned earlier in September for a chance to sing. This was a very exciting time for the young students. Great job LMS Treble Choir!!!

Levelland Middle School competed against Lubbock Cooper, Friendship Middle School, and Terra Vista at the U.I.L. competition on Wednesday  November 18,2009. Levelland placed 2nd at the U.I.L. competition.

  This past Saturday, the Levelland Middle School Choir students were involved in Solo and Ensemble Contests. The contest was held at Frendship High School.

18 schools participated and a total of 45 LMS students were involved. Combined, LMS brought home 67 Division 1 medals!!  Way to go LMS Choir!

LMS is hosting this year’s UIL competitions. The Academic Meet will be held Wednesday, November 18 at LMS. This event will start at 1:00 P.M. The One Act Competition will be held Saturday, November 21 starting at 9:00 A.M at LMS. On Friday October 30,2009 the  Levelland Middle School students put on their coolest costumes to say boo to drugs! The students had a fun week in recognition of Red Ribbon Week to say no to drugs!

    On Thursday October 29, 2009 the Levelland Middle School students participated in Sock It To Drugs Day. The students got together and showed off their Crazy Cool Socks!  Sock day was part of a week long recognition  of Red Ribbon Week where students learn to say NO to drugs!
