When the 2nd Annual  Lighted Christmas Parade winners were named, the Transportation Department hopped, skipped and ran away with the trophy.

Thousands of lights covered “Santa’s Big Yellow Sleigh”  which was loaded down with presents on top. Children, adults and reindeer alike looked, waved, and sang from the windows. Elves walked along beside the bus which was being pulled by Rudolph!

Volunteers from the department combined their time and effort to make memories for the event. “It was amazing”, said Sandra Riggs, Director of Transportation, “to hear all of the ooohs and aawwws that came from the crowds and to see everyone smiling and sharing the good time with us. We had an absolute blast and look forward to making this an annual event.”

Health and safety are key issues for the LISD Transportation Department, so we’re doing our part to protect our students from the flu bugs that are so prevalent right now. Our drivers have been provided antiseptic wipes that they are using daily on handrails, seats, doors and more, to kill germs. We’re also fogging buses weekly with an OSHA approved viricide, bactericide that kills germs we aren’t reaching. The fogger mist is safe and effective. Drivers have also been provided with antiseptic hand gel for themselves and their students. We believe that one of the keys to staying safe, is to stay healthy.
