Mrs. Solis’ second graders learn Indian customs by studying the Three Sisters.  Squanto taught the pilgrims  the Three Sisters method of planting.  Corn is the strong and tall sister, while the bean plant grows up the corn’s stalk, and finally the squash grows on the ground to protect the ground and keep the moisture in.  The Three Sisters need each other to make a good crop for the pilgrims to harvest in the fall.
