The Levelland Noon Rotary Club recently gifted every second grader at Capitol Elementary with a free book purchace from the Spring Book Fair. All the students gathered with smiles and book in hand to show their appreciation.

Mrs. Amy Alexander’s 2nd grade class welcomes a visit from Betsy Ross a.k.a. Natalie Gann.  Ms. Gann has her students make “tasty” treats that resemble the U.S. flag while she reads them the story, Red, White and Blue.   Later, Mrs. A. Alexander’s student enjhoy an ice cream sundae as their “AR” reward!

Students in Mrs. Sanders’ math class studied about 3D shapes and made shapes using tooth picks and marshmallows.

Capitol Elementary principal, Karl Race, steps in as temporary librarian, to assist his son, Matthew.  The students enjoyed having a new face in the library and Mr. Race had fun checking out books for the students!

At least they did on February 14th, Valentine’s day.  Mrs. Brashear’s math classes used candy hearts to graph and estimate.  What a SWEET lesson to learn!!

Capitol Elementary first grader, Eliazer, just  shared an exciting moment.  He worked on reading his book and then came  to share his story with Mr. Race, his principal.  Great job, Eliazer!  Keep up the good work!

This year Capitol Elementary had twenty-three students that participated in their campus Spelling Bee.  The first place winner was third grader,  Faith B.,  second place was taken by Yolliet R., and the campus  alternate was Felicia V..  The first and second place winners will then compete with the other Levelland district winners on Wednesday, February 15th at the Levelland Middle School at 2:00p.m.

Capitol Elementary second graders celebrated the 100th day of school.  They made glasses, crowns, and cereal necklaces.

Mrs. Chase’s second grade science classes studied the different phases of the moon. They made the phases using OREO cookies.
