We are full of PRIDE, YES we ARE!
The 2010-2011 Levelland Middle School Cheerleaders recently returned from a National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) Summer Cheer Camp. The camp was held Raider Xtreme Gym in Lubbock and attracted 18 squads from surrounding area schools.
The LMS Cheer squad represented their school and community with pride and excellence.
The Squad came home with several honors including:
* 2 NCA Herkie Awards (team excellence and performance)
* NCA National Bid Winner (for further competitions)
* Spirit Stick Award (won on the first and final day of camp)
* 4 Superior Ribbons for NCA evaluations
* 4 Excellent Ribbons for NCA evaluations
Two of our LMS squad members, Haylee Jackson and Grace Stapleton were nominated by NCA staff members for All-American Cheerleader. Nominees are voted on based on their cheer skills, leadership skills, and overall cheer abilities. After All-American tryouts, Haylee Jackson was awarded a spot on the NCA All-American Cheer Team
LMS Cheerleaders for the 2010-2011 school year are: Alex French, Grace Stapleton, Hannah Pompa, Haylee Jackson, Mitchel Godbolt and Olivia Riley. Sponsors are LMS teacher April Allison and LMS Principal Kenny Berry
From May 8th-11th, a group of students from Levelland Middle School had the opportunity to actually visit the places they heard about in history class. The group started planning the trip as far back as last year and each grade level at LMS was represented.

Levelland MS Varsity 7th & 8th Grade Varsity Treble Choir competed in the Region XVI University Interscholastic League (UIL) Middle School North Zone Concert and Sightreading Contest on March 31st at Estacado HS. They received a Sweepstakes award for earning Division I ratings (superior) in both concert and sightreading!
Mrs. Deborah Payne is the LMS Choir Director. Dr. Hye-Gyung Ji was the accompanist at the competition.

Alan Simmons and Junior Gonzales
Levelland Middle School was recently awarded a trophy for having the Cleanest Campus of the Month by Sodexo. Our awesome custodial crew ensures that our school is always clean and safe. Alan Simmons and Junior Gonzales head up a team dedicated to making the Middle School a wonderful environment!
Alan Simmons was also recognized as Sodexo’s Employee of the Month! Congratulations custodians and thank you very much for all of the hard work you put into our school!
On Wednesday March 12th, the Middle School hosted “Parent Appreciation” festivities as part of Texas Public Schools Week. Parents toured the school and took part in several activities including performances by the 8th grade basketball team, Theater Arts Class, Symphonic Band Percussion ensemble, PLAD club, and The 6th Grade Choir.
Also, there was an Art Gallery diplaying student work and refreshments for all attendants.
Creativity abounds in the halls of LMS! Here is just a glimpse of what is taking place at our school.

Levelland Middle School will be represented by 2 teams at the Northwest Plains Regional Destination Imagination contest on Saturday February 27th at Estacado High School. Both the 6th and 7th grade will be represented.
Destination Imagination is an organization that allows students to use creativity and teamwork to solve problems in unconventional ways.

LMS Student Elliot Hannah placed first in the District Spelling Bee! Jeremiah Morales was the runner-up.
Elliot will compete in Regional competition on March 6th at the Science Spectrum. Jeremiah is an alternate competitor for Regionals.
The winner of Regionals moves on to the National Finals in Washington DC!
