Mrs. Pam Alexander’s class carved a pumpkin today in class. When finished they roasted and ate the seeds. This was a great activity for the students as they prepared to write “How to Carve a Pumpkin”.

What a treat to have the SPC Men’s Basketball Team visit us at Capitol Elementary today. The players visited with the students about being drug free. They were very tall….just check out the picture with Mrs. Rendon and Mrs. Smith!

The Cactus Elementary 2nd Grade classes learned about dinosaurs this week. Activities included centers, books, and activities including making Dinosaur Cookies (also known as No Bake Cookies). Mrs. Sturgeon’s students enjoyed helping to read the recipe and make cookies in class! Here is the recipe for your enjoyment!
Dinosaur Cookies
½ cup swamp water (milk)
2 tablespoons dirt (cocoa)
½ cup bug guts (butter)
2 cups white sand (sugar)
Combine these ingredients in a pan, and bring to a boil, which takes about 2-3 minutes. Remove the pan from heat and stir in ¾ cup tree sap (creamy peanut butter). Add 3 cups tree bark (“quick” oatmeal) and 1 teaspoon Pterodactyl juice (vanilla).
Mix well and drop “cookie size” (spoonfuls) onto dinosaur skin (wax paper). Wait until they have hardened, then serve with your favorite swamp drink. Store in a bowl at cave temperature (room temperature)! Enjoy!!

Come join us at Cactus Elementary on Thursday, March 11 for “Exemplary” entertainment and eats! Start the day off right with a healthy breakfast. We will host “Breakfast of Champions” in the library from 7:30-8:45 a.m. This delicious breakfast is for parents and other family members of Cactus. Stick around for “Fitness Fun” in the gym as Mrs. Garza showcases some exciting, vigorous PE activities with our third grade students! The program will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the gym and we will also have another performance at 2:00 p.m. if you can’t make it in the morning.
