LISD and the local chapter of Friends of Rachel would like to invite all LISD parents and the entire community to attend the Rachel’s Challenge program on Wednesday, September 9, 2009,.at 7 p.m. in the Levelland Middle School auditorium.
The Rachel’s Challenge program was introduced to LHS in the Fall of 2007. Rachel Scott was the first student killed in Columbine on April 20, 1999. She had written an essay about creating an atmosphere of kindness and unity.

The goal of Rachel’s Challenge is to promote a community of kindness and compassion, which will eliminate bullying and violence.

The program on Wednesday will challenge everyone to look for the best in others, set goals, choose influences wisely, speak soft words – and start a chain reaction of kindness that will ripple into the world.

For the past two years the organization has promoted spirit and unity among students at high school. They have made noise makers and posters to encourage school spirit, have visited the local nursing homes and painted the nails of the residents, and have assisted in local food drives by sorting food after the collections.
